  • I hadn't heard anything about Liquid Nutrition before I was strolling down Queen and decided to make a hard right into their shiny and attractive storefront a few days ago. While I was fully expecting a total franchise-in-disguise of just another Joe's juice joint, that wasn't exactly what I found inside. After entering the nice and zen entrance, I was visually attacked by ultra super mega sized tubs of Creatine, Protein, and all other types of powders and gels accompanied by obnoxious (or exciting, depending on who you are) 50% off signs. The thought of people willing to ingest these about-to-expire products that already taste like mulch (I'm not hating! You know this is true) was enough to turn my stomach, but I decided to troop on over to the counter and get that juice I came in for. A woman who I'd politely ushered in before me when we arrived at the doorway at the same time was the only other customer in the store and felt it necessary to discuss the minute details of each ingredient in her meal replacement shake with the cashier. The other uniformed employee behind the counter took his time wiping down machines in slow motion and didn't even acknowledge my presence with a smile let alone have the foresight to take my drink order while I was waiting to pay. I wasn't in a hurry anyway, so moseyed over to the back where a library of these powders, gels, tablets, and bars were on display. Examining all the flashy packaging and all of their bloated promises was pretty fascinating and a little terrifying. I would imagine that this would be something of a bodybuilder's candy shop though as they seem to be pretty well stocked. There were also crates and crates of fruit strewn all over the floor, so the back area where high tops and clusters of stools were set up wasn't as inviting as it was probably meant to appear. Without exaggeration, it was almost an entire ten minutes before it came time for me to order. The actual "juicing" took no time at all and I was incredibly relieved to leave the store with my Banango ($4.15) which was dreamily creamy with a nice balance of fruitiness. But as you may already know, there are a handful of other places I could get my juice on on the same block, so I will very likely never come back again.
