| - Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good deal and I love Groupon. While perysing Groupon one evwning, I snagged this lovely deal for $23 for two people includes a tasting, souvenir glasses, tour and a bottle of wine. My friend and I came here on a Saturday early afternoon. It wasn't too crowded and they were preparing for a wedding later that evening. The tastings start at the top of the hour from 11am to 5pm on Saturdays. When we arrived, we had to wait about 30 mins until we could attend the next tasting. We perused the gift shop. They have tons of cute wine inspired knickknacks and also some local jams and jellies and snacks. We tasted the jams and jellies, bout a few snacks and knickknacks and we headed to walk around outside. We climbed the tree house. They have 3 tree houses that you can rent and you can stay overnight in them. During the tasting, you got 8 pours of 8 different wines. The wines will vary from day to day depending on what they pull for the tasting that day. Although their wines are Muscadine based which I'm not a fan of, they do have a few wines that are not super sweet and are dry. I think my favorite was the reisling. After the tastinf, we did a quick tour where we learned a few things about how they make their wine. They grow 7 types of grapes and they use 5 of them to make their wine. They don't use fertilizers or peticides on their grapes. To make the dry and non muscadine wines, they get raw juice from other grapes in the Yadkin valley region.
After the tour, we headed to the picnic table and had a picnic. You can pack a picnic lunch or bring in food. Their outdoor space is lovely with lots of seats and tables. They are not a kid or pet friendly place, so beware. Overall it was a nice outing and a short drive from the QC. It's not a bad way to spend a sunny Saturday!
