| - I've leased various VWs in my life and I was looking to lease a new Jetta with my brother when I visited here.
After doing a test drive, they immediately brought out this laminated sheet of paper with monthly lease prices on it. It looked very official and made me think it was something they received from VW Headquarters. I now realize now that this is probably the impression they wanted me to have so I wouldn't question the pricing or try to negotiate it. Long story short, I later found out that their prices were *significantly* higher than the prices I was offered at other VW dealers in the Valley.
When they followed up with us and we told them about the substantially better offer we received from a different VW dealer here in the Valley, the sales manager seemed genuinely confused as to how we got such a great deal (that great deal included everything I wanted, I triplechecked to make sure nothing was missing or hidden). It occurred to me that they may not do a lot of leases at this dealer and so they weren't as aware of how off-the-mark their pricing was. And normally, I'd give them that benefit of the doubt; however, I've had previous bad experiences here.
Specifically, about a year and half ago, I tried leasing another Jetta at this very same dealer. I spoke with a salesman here and after explaining the price for the lease, we refused and left because it seemed oddly high. They had assured us this was the best deal they had. After rejecting the offer and driving home, the salesman called to say he made a "mistake" and that we should come back to discuss the better, correct price. Ultimately, I got a lease from a different VW dealer for what was still a better price than their "correct" price.
Bottom line: Don't lease from these guys before checking out other VW dealers in the Valley. They'll probably try and mislead you. Definitely try Scottsdale.
