I can't believe I am reviewing a liquor store, but that is how impressed I am with Southland Beverage. This place is a wonderland of alcoholic beverages.
The store is sectioned into three areas: wine, liquor and beer. In each area the shelves are packed tight with dozens upon dozens of brands of alcohol. If you are looking for an out of the ordinary brand of vodka or gin, there is a good chance that they will have it here. The wine section is a bit more confusing. There are a lot of bins containing various labels and styles of wine. You need to have time to sort through it to find something you might like.
The beer section is my favorite. This part of the store is very well stocked with a wide variety of selection from Europe, Asia and US craft brews. All of the beers are offered in six packs as well as singles. Empty six pack boxes are available so that you can make your own. You could literally spend over an hour exploring all of the different options. I also enjoy that they post the Beer Advocate ratings on some of the beers, although reviews would be slightly more helpful.
Also, be sure to check out the shelf with mini-bar sized bottles across from the register before you check out. It's usually a good way to find and try some of the more unusual beverages (sake and vodka?) before committing to an entire bottle.
They also offer wine tastings on Saturday afternoons.
