| - Aura on broadway looks amazing and I'm not going to lie: it is very nice. I enjoy the amenities, maintenance is amazing, but I do not enjoy the management and their choices at all. They do not care about the happiness of their residents, they use the fact that their complex is nice to get money out of their residents.
We signed our lease and they advertised the rent at $300 less, free electricity, and I believe a free first month. Now it's time to renew our lease and they want to raise our rent.
They advertised the 24/7 study room with free wifi but the wifi has never worked since we moved in August. When we asked the management they said they looked into it. Occasionally the 24/7 study room has been locked and inaccessible, which is also where the accessible bathrooms are for the pool area. The new management shut off half the clubhouse for use after-hours and moved what we were told would be a free 24 hour printer to the office area where you can only access it during office hours.
All of the prices for reserved parking spaces or garages raised after the new management took over. They offer free unmarked parking but since residents began complaining that there isn't enough of the free parking their response was to create more reserved spots at $30 a month ("Great news!" the email read. No, not great.) That would be another $1,440/year from all of the individuals living in our three bedroom. Because there isn't enough parking with the reserved spots, I parked on the outside of the complex. Today, there is a note saying that those spots are reserved for future residents even though the spots have no signs on them that say so.
We were unpleasantly surprised when we went to pay our rent the first time from the amazing online system that accepts card we found there is a $62 charge to use a card.
The trash system is fine but it is fairly unnecessary. You have to put the trash can outside between 6-8 pm and maybe they'll come immediately at 8:05 to collect your trash or they'll be there at 11 pm and you'll be without a trashcan for 3-5 hours. I wouldn't mind just carrying the trash to the dumpster but we pay for the service. I don't believe there is an option to opt out.
There are cracks in our ceiling and maintenance painted over them but they're back, it is probably just the building settling. Maintenance is always very prompt and friendly. We have never had any serious issues but maintenance is always very quick to respond.
Our change water filter light came on in November so we submitted a work request, they said they were replacing filters in January. Now, it's February and they haven't replaced our filter and our light is on again. (Edit: maintenance said even though the replace light turns on the filter only needs to be replaced every 24 months)
We all submitted our renters insurance when we moved in in August but January 1st they claimed they never received our proof of insurance. More like your system is crappy and you want to blame us. This wouldn't be a problem if they had just said that they needed us to send it again instead of saying we never gave it to them.
In conclusion: This is a nice complex. There is great maintenance. But maybe not worth it if you can find a complex with management that actually cares that their residents are happy with their experience living there not just caring about you to get you to move in.
I edited this review 2/10/17 to highlight the maintenance crew. They have always responded to even our low priority requests within a business day and are always extremely friendly. I submitted a work order today for outlets not working and they were here in less than 30 minutes. I bumped up my review to three stars because of this and the appearance of the complex. The two stars are lost because of the management.
