I can not believe my own story...what a hassle. I bought a new microwave from a Home Depot...I would normally install this myself..but at 70 my wife tell me I need to back off and let Home Depot install it.
I was not at home when TEMCO ( Home Depot installation company) show up...the installer refused to install the Whirlpool Microwave and told me to reject the unit and go buy a Samsung or LG. Apparently the Whirlpool like Maytag have three screws available to secure the front of the unit. I found out later only two screws are needed to be used. When I arrived home I was so disappointed. They told my wife that the vent opening was cut out where the center screw is located preventing them from installing this unit. Apparently LG and Samsung only have screws at the outsides of unit. I called Home Depot and was told that there license did not cover any modification needed to install a appliance...this blew me away..I told them that there was not a license requirement needed to place a 1X4 X20 inches long piece of wood to catch the center screw.
I called and told Home Depot that I did not want a LG or Samsung and asked if they had someone else they could send out to install the unit. They said they would have someone call me. I was contacted and explained the installation and was told no problem...a schedule was made. I called Home Depot and asked them to deliver the microwave again. This time Timco co. Showed up to deliver and install the microwave...when my wife told him that he was just dropping the unit off and he would not be able to install....he told my wife that the center screw was not needed...and he would install a 1X4 strong back to catch the center screw if she wanted it. She told him that we had another Contractor coming out. Guess what...that Home Depot Contractor never showed up. When I called him he told me he was too busy.
I PURCHASED A NICE BEAUTIFUL MICROWAVE FROM HOME DEPOT OVER A WEEK AGO AND ITS STILL SITTING IN THE BOX. HOME DEPOT SUCKS AND WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN.
