  • Unfortunately they have lost a life long customer. I had purchased my last two cars from Carmax and was getting ready to go in and purchase a 3rd - a Porsche Cayenne. I've always paid for my cars with a check, bringing in a copy of my bank account balance. Unfortunately, the managers/salespeople that I dealt with previously were no longer employed there. They now have this system where they require you to allow them to scan your drivers license and keep it in their database. I refused since there was no good business reason to do so. I was more than happy to let them examine my license but there was no reason to keep a copy of it on their computer. They refused to sell me a car which I think has to be the absolute first in the history of car selling. I told the GM that if you allow your freedoms to be slowly taken away, you'll wake up one day without any freedoms. He said he was ok with that.
