| - I really, really, really would love to support a local business like this, especially when it's dead on a Thursday night, BUT I think it is a horrible business practice to surprise your clients at the cash register with a service cost way over the price listed on the site. Granted, on the site, it says $65+ for a colour TOUCH UP, that's just the roots all over, meaning it starts at $65....However, IF the price is going to be more than that, it should be incumbent on the stylist/colourist to tell the customer what the price will be or won't be, ie you have curly hair, so it's going to cost $X. This should be done before the appointment starts, or even when the customer calls to make an appointment, ie the receptionist should say colour STARTS at 70 for root touch up, but if we have to use more than one tube, it will likely be $80.
With tax and 15% tip, the bill came to just about $100 - a shocking amount for a root touch up.I have never paid so much for a simple root touch up (even though they say $80 is the going rate for Aveda), not even at Civello. I'm astounded and extremely disappointed. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Such a shame too, I really like Renee (she was not there the day of the colour appt) as a stylist and person, but my previous salon really went above and beyond...I'll be going back to Prive Hair Gallery in the Junction, or colouring at home.
