So a friend of mine recently had a birthday party in this hotel. But that wasn't the first time I've ever been in Monte Carlo. In fact, I've been in the place many times. My aunt worked here for a few years after she left the Stardust actually.
I remember the grand statues and landscaping out front. I remember the arcade in the lame shopping mall in the back. I remember when Lance Burton was the headliner and the bizarre sub-theme of magic the place once had. I remember when it wasn't so red and blue.
The grand entrance has been replaced with a Linq-ish promenade (my feelings on that are rather ambivalent). The arcade in the back is gone, making the "Street of Dreams" even more underwhelming. The magic theme has been replaced with the aura of the Blue Man Group.
The hotel room was lovely however.
It decorated in muted nighttime shades of blue on the walls and in the carpet. The bed was plush and spacious enough for multiple people to lay on it during a gathering. There were two bathrooms (this was a suite) which was perfect for a party environment. Oh, and we were able to accommodate almost 50 people in our one room.
Not bad for a party. Not bad at all.
The Final Verdict
Pros:
Fantastic, spacious suites.
It kinda, sorta serves as a childhood memory? LOL.
Cons:
"Eh" casino and shopping area.
Huh?:
Okay, I get you guys are trying to blend the entrance in with the new "Park" for the arena and everything, but at the same time by remodeling the entrance y'all kinda took away the only thing that really made the facade distinctive. Now it kinda just looks a bunch of other places on The Strip. Oh wait, that's the point. Never mind.
Return Factor: 8/10 if I wanted to have a get together in a hotel room. 5/10 if we're talking just stopping by the casino.
