  • I waited a long time to write this review. Mainly because I wanted to make sure I was getting my security deposit back and because, frankly, I truly can't find words to describe just how terrible our experience living here was. We should have been suspicious, really. We toured the building to see a small 2 bedroom apartment that was a little under our budget. The building owner was very persistent about showing us a very large (I'm talking ridiculous, over-the-top) apartment that he would give us for slightly over our budget - for half price because the economy is bad and it hasn't been rented in several months and it's better to have someone in it than have it sit empty. It was much more than we thought we'd be able to get for our budget (3000-ish square feet, a roof top deck!) and we were stupid. So we agreed to move in. Almost immediately, things were very weird. Our landlord would show our apartment to prospective tenants (without our permission or knowledge) even though our lease wasn't up for another year. One time, I came downstairs to find our landlord and two tenants just standing in our doorway. I hadn't showered! I didn't know they were coming. Which is not only inappropriate, it's illegal in this state. Eventually, I guess he found the tenants who would be moving in after us because the apartment showing stopped. Unfortunately, our problems did not. I once woke up to find a towel in front of the deck door (right outside my bedroom) that I did not put there. I called the office and found out someone had come in WHILE I WAS SLEEPING to put it there because they thought it was leaking? These are simply the creepiest examples of the management's behavior. Our lease gave us an auto-renew option (that we clearly were not interested in) but we also never voiced that we would be moving at the end of our lease - so why would prospective tenants be allowed to look around, sign a lease, etc when we are still living there (and possibly renewing?) Our lease specifically stated the rent would increase 6% at the end of the year if we renewed. However, we got a letter stating that our rent would be increasing approximately 40% if we wanted to renew. Those were very clearly not the terms of our lease - I think they just wanted us to move out and we were more than ready to. Totally unethical and unlawful management. I would avoid at all costs.
