| - Once again, scheduled & confirmed a Salvation Army pickup and waited all day. I called at 3pm to find out when they were coming, and was assured me they would be here by 4pm. I get off the phone, and see a voicemail from a call *from* SA that came in *while* I was talking to SA!? The voicemail says sorry, can't do the pickup and they have rescheduled me for Friday - 3 days later. I call SA back to find out what happened - they have no idea, but tell me 'oh well you can just put your stuff outside, you don't need to wait for us to show up' ???!!! Yeah, that would have gone well if I had left my stuff outside today - when they didn't show up, I would then have to lug it all back inside? I then get told 'Look lady, it IS a FREE service'.
Rude much? After I have taken a day off, to donate $$$$ worth of stuff, sat all day... they cancel, and then are rude to me about it?!
Do know that these pickup no shows are not unusual for SA, but instead seems to be their standard procedure. See other reviews - and note also that every single time I have used them in the past, this no show routine has happened to me.
I do usually prefer to give my item donations to the Salvation Army rather than to one of the For Profit thrifts (ie Goodwill, Savers, Unique, Amvets) but this is the last time. In this day and age the apparent lack of concern about their donors is ridiculous.
In the future, I will not use their pickup "service", there are plenty of other options, plenty of other thrifts that would like to have thousands of dollars worth of my free goods to resell, and those services DO show up.
Be sure to check other reviews and keep SA's terrible record in mind if you have a donation that needs to be picked up, especially if you have a job or a life -- or maybe need to do something besides wait around day after day for a pickup that will never happen!
