My experience started out rough because of the service. My server was abrupt and impatient. I'm not sure if he heard me complain, but I noticed some improvement when he came back. I thought he was racist because I noticed how charming he was with the Caucasians at the next table. It's interesting that his recommendation changed from person to person. My friends who got there earlier asked for recommendations and he told them to get a set of items. Then when I asked, he told me another set of items. I was at a French brasserie, so I had felt like I had to get the escargot. Not escargot in butter, but this puffed pastry escargot. Next he mentioned the lobster roll was unlike any other and I can't find it anywhere. He also recommended the Hunter's waffle. I wanted one croissant for $3 and he told me I might as well get the "bread basket" for $10. I ordered pastis and the server had no idea what I was talking about. I told him, that this is a French restaurant and you must have Ricard at the bar. He checked and they brought me a glass of pastis on the rocks for $15. At that price, I should have instead ordered the $20 bottomless brunch rosé. Everything I ordered was excellent. My favorite was the bread basket, which is more of heaven in a basket. My first attack was the canelé. I wasn't going to share that with anyone. I inhaled it. Next was the croissant which was crisp just like I've had in France. Then there was a kouign-amann and raisin pastry which I shared with my table. This is a Michael Mina restaurant which I've had on my list of places to eat at Vegas and I'm glad I was able to check it out during this trip. Chef Joshua Smith is the chef de cuisine and is taking French classics to another level of refinement. The management needs to better train the staff. I didn't feel the service level matched the restaurant quality. It did improve towards the end of my meal, but was not at all memorable. The food outshined the service. 3 stars service. 5 stars for the elevated take on French classics. About the chef
