  • Just came home from a disappointing visit at Sushi Wa. Wish I had gone back to Oyshi instead. Service staff was pleasant and attentive, but out of three chefs, there was only one who was pleasant, and he wasn't the one serving me. The menu was explained poorly. One order of sashimi per person, (huh?) and one order of sweet shrimp.. description that took much longer than necessary to get across. I had eaten the rest of my food (2 rolls, 3 different orders of sushi, the sashimi, and a couple of appetizers) and the sweet shrimp was MIA. The one pleasant chef, upon my inquiry, mentioned it was coming. But it felt like every time I spoke to my chef, I was bothering him. And what was his name? Well, according to their chef jackets, they were all named Joon Choi. The sweet shrimp came out right as I was asking about dessert. I had given up. To be fair, the quality of the fish was good. 4 stars for that. But there was so much more that was wrong. The rolls were poorly wrapped, the carrot in one of the rolls should have been thrown away. I had to pick it out! Seriously. I tried their Korean Bulgogi. Bad. Just Bad. And then... the sweet shrimp arrived. I. Have. Never. Had. Shrimp. This. Bad. I couldn't eat it. I asked for the red bean mocha. The waitress asked if I wanted it as I finished the rest of my food. When I indicated I was not going to do so, she told me they charged for pieces I didn't eat. I understand that policy is in place to keep down waste... but when I told her the food was undesirable, she didn't really say anything. In the end, they took it off my bill. But what a waste of a night of sushi! I ended up feeling full but extremely dissatisfied. Never again.
