Went to Clarendon with a girlfriend who was visiting from CA, just to lounge at the pool and escape the Phoenix heat. I could see where they were going with the art deco / retro motif, which I appreciated. But something about the hotel seemed a bit dirty and cheaply executed. I can't comment about the rooms as we didn't stay there, but I can comment on the pool and bar. First, I found it odd that there were no pool servers or cocktail waitresses. We had to go inside to the lobby bar to order food and drinks. Drinks were ok, food was just bar food. You also had to be fully clothed to order at the bar. Understandable but highly inconvenient when wet from the pool. The pool in reality is about 5 times smaller then it looked from the photos online and not a fraction as glamorous. Seems pretty outdated. There were lots of families, which is great, but one had a toddler in a regular diaper (as opposed to a swim diaper) swimming around which grossed us out. Seemed unhygienic. The crowd was sort of ghetto for lack of a better word. We couldn't complain, were were there for free, but I would never stay there and probably won't be back unless desperate for a pool.
