| - It actually pains me to rewrite this review because K56 was one of our favorite go-to spots in the area. We anxiously awaited their reopen and it was my first meal after being out of the country for nearly 3 weeks. Only to find out the re-do unfortunately seems to have not worked in our favor. Don't get me wrong, aesthetically the restaurant looks great. They did a good job of updating the decor and design. And while it's much smaller, it's still very pleasing to the eye. Our experience started with a very awkward introduction. We stood at the front for nearly 5 minutes waiting to be seated, we were acknowledged by three different people, but nobody offered to seat us. Until finally a gentleman asked if we had been helped yet, and when we said no, he said he would be back shortly. After we were sat, we sat a good 5-7 minutes until our initial intro with our server. Again, not the end of the world, but a little unusual for typical Kitchen 56 standards that we have experienced in the past! I was sad to see they got rid of the green chile mac and cheese dish! That was a personal favorite. So, We started with the warm spinach salad. It was good, we were pleased with the order. My boyfriend ordered the pork chop, and I ordered the stuffed chicken. The pork chop was one of our favorite dishes on the old menu, one because of flavor, but also because of the generous portion sizing. They have downsized the portion, yet the price remains the same. And his was overdone, even after ordering it medium. The stuffed chicken was just disappointing. It was dry, and overdone with very little to talk about. I was also surprised that for a $20 dish, it did not come with a starch of any kind. Definitely not a reorder, or money well spent in my opinion. Maybe it was just an off night, as we have had consistent positive experiences in the past! But, after two average entrees and a $70 check, this may just be a happy hour stop in spot, and not a date night spot like it was for us for the past few years.
