I am slightly disappointed with my visit and here's why...
I was looking for some guidance on purchasing a personal firearm for self defense. I was cheerfully greeted by a very nice individual and I told him that I was a first time buyer and handler of firearms and needed some help. I asked for some suggestions and ready to take notes, with pen and paper in hand, he shows me 3, 9mm's out of the entire store. Really? That's all you can suggest? I asked about other options and he said that he didn't recommend anything other than this. I asked about revolvers and he discouraged them. In fact he wouldn't even show me one. I told him that I was going to buy a shotgun today, regardless, for home defense but he warned me about the kick. I still wanted to try it out and so we finished up so I could wait in line to shoot. My store visit took about 20 min.
I then proceed down range to try them out and I was very lucky to have the range officer help during my time. He showed me the proper way to hold and load the 9mm's I was trying out. He even gave me some helpful advice on handling the gun and loading the magazines. He even suggested another type of 9mm to try and that ended up being my favorite. In the end, I really enjoyed the range and the ladies shoot free on Weds. special. I just expected a more thorough "consultation" on the sales floor w/ the big selection they had.
I now know where to go for a shooting range but I'll look elsewhere for my purchases.
