While the park itself is gorgeous, it is really inconvenient that they only have the porta-potties at the East entrance. The washroom located there has also been under renovation for a long time now so I don't know how much longer until they re-open. We went during the peak time for the Sakura blossoms, and it is gorgeous in the park at the time. It is highly recommended you go during off-peak times to avoid the crowds. If you go during peak times be prepared to drive far into the surrounding neighbourhoods for parking, and wade through the crowds where all the trees are. Despite the signs, police on bikes, and common sense, people still climb on the trees to satisfy their narcissism. It really bugs me that people can't just leave them alone. The trees will last longer for everyone else by having a bit of courtesy.
