We booked the hotel through Chase and they used Expedia in August 2017 to reserve the room and we paid in full. Unfortunately, upon arriving they informed us that they had overbooked and notified Expedia for us to be relocated on October 21 (5 days ahead of our arrival). We called Chase and confirmed our reservation before we arrived. Expedia didn't pass the news that Lowes cancelled our reservation on to us and it left us scrambling to find other accommodations which ate into our limited amount of time in Montreal. I understand overbooking happens, however, the fact that they chose to cancel our reservation when we booked so far in advance and then didn't reach out to us directly to let us know (they told Expedia) warrants a one star review as I believe this was not handled appropriately.
However, Even considering the one star situation, I was very thankful that the staff was accommodating and apologetic considering the mix-up. They paid for our taxi to our tour which we were late to, didn't charge us for drinks while we waited at Lowes and they ensured the price difference of the new hotel from what we had paid for Lowes was covered in full.
The hotel we ended up staying at was Le Mount Stephen. It's right around the corner and I highly recommend it.
