| - Ah, Makinos. 12 years ago when their location at the north outlets still existed...it was our fave place to "splurge" on. All you can eat sushi including hot food, salads, soups, desserts, etc...the sushi always seemed to be the best value you'd get for the price.
We have been to the Decatur location a few times now and each time it has been such a party to get into. I find this place a little too fitted. Not as spacious and when it is busy, it's like a circuit to walk through. I started to feel the decline in their sushi, especially, at the outlet location before they closed...but after frequenting this location...I really really am feeling it. You can see the age in the sushi as it sits, rice has been a bit old, and I can't stand the cross contamination. You know when one tong has been used for different sushis. Which may not be a big deal...but when someone is using one tong for one sushi then the same one for another...people with allergies could suffer from this easily from those who aren't conscious to such things.
While I do know that the price you pay for the options you get isn't so bad...because I've seen this place years ago, and with all the ayces out there...this place wouldn't be it for us/me. I'd rather pay about the same price for a place that specializes specifically on sushi rather than one that tries to carer to everyone's preference...because quite frankly, there are those who want sushi and then another person in their party doesnt. I feel like this place works best for such situation.
On that note, despite what I feel...I'd recommend them if whatever I typed makes sense to you. They had a working high chair when I was there but please leave the stroller in the trunk because it gets crazy busy in there and space gets limited.
Enjoy!
