| - I normally worry about shuttle services, not so much from the airport trip, but there's often some sort of snag getting picked up returning to the airport.
But since Bell Transportation is the default Expedia shuttle (and I hadn't checked my reservation throughly and had already paid for it), I decided to give it a go. As usual, the ride from the airport was fairly uneventful: the driver was helpful and even gave out coupon books. So far so good.
As could be predicted, the ride back to the airport was more of an adventure. Since it was the day of the Las Vegas marathon and part of the Strip was closed to traffic, I was wary of how they'd get to the hotel. So I called their number earlier in the morning and they said that they couldn't get to hotels on the strip and I was better off calling a cab. They did say that they'd comp the second half of the ticket.
Since cabs were having trouble getting through also, I asked if I could arrange a pickup off the Strip if I walked there. They said it was possible, but no guarantees. So I marched a mile to the back of the MGM Grand and planned to call them from there. In a rare moment of serendipity, there actually was a Bell Transport shuttle sitting there waiting for one more passenger. So I was able to give my ticket to the driver, catch a ride and make my flight.
So three stars total for this. The driver from the airport was great and I did make it back in time for my flight. But only three stars since they didn't bother to call me to notify me that they wouldn't be able to pick me up (if I hadn't re-checked 90 minutes prior, I suspect I would have a much more angry story to tell.....).
