Any day in Redrock Canyon is a great day! Today was an extraordinary day after the heavy rainfall and snowfall, everything looked and felt clean.
What I miss about this area is being able to come here to escape from the crowds. Living here most of my life, I often remember the old days when:
A. There was no fee to get into the park
B. Rarely did you see a tourist or another local out here
C. Plenty of trails to explore and not seeing another soul for miles.
Yes, I suppose we have progressed and glad others have been able to see our amazing park but I am afraid with all the foot traffic, parts of the park are being ruined. I usually get up pretty early and get out here but today I as a late start. Wow! I could not believe the amount of people that were out here. I parked at Red Springs and did my best to get lost. Not easy but still had a good hike amongst the boulders and Joshua trees. I feel lucky to have this park right in my backyard but will always long for the old days when people only thought of Las Vegas as the strip and didn't know about this sacred place.
