  • Very rough experience with this location/company. I was in town for a weekend away with my wife (had someone watching the kids and everything :). We pick up our car and I drop off my wife at the hotel and go downtown to grab a juice at GrassRoots by Fremont Street. I was running in to get a juice and could see the car outside so I took the risk of not going to the kiosk to "pay and display" for parking. As I am getting a juice I see a parking patrol slow and stop as he is driving by. When he stops I run out to ask if I can just move it and he says no, your registration is expired and you are illegally parked. I tell him that it is a rental, etc. so he says that shouldn't be your responsibility but I have already written a ticket. He says go ahead and get your order and take this car back to the rental place. I do and explain to the Hertz manager. He apologizes for the error with the invalid registration and gives me a new car. He also TAKES the ticket that says illegally parked and invalid registration. Says they will cover the registration but maybe not the full ticket since it also mentions a parking violation (even though i only got the parking b/c he stopped after seeing invalid tags). He said he couldn't make the final call but would submit the ticket and I would find out the result. Either way they will handle it and either bill me or just pay it and it would be closed. At this point I am just waiting and I no longer have the ticket. So weeks/months pass and I don't hear anything from them or in response to my email to Hertz on the matter (I am/was a gold member FWIW and emailed them about this through the website on the day it happened). Next thing I get is an invoice from Hertz for $530 due to a late fee (fines doubled and a processing charge from Hertz). I would have been fine paying it to get it over with even with all the hassle and expired registration but they TOOK the ticket from me on the day it happened, then didn't pay it, then are passing off the entire double charge and a $30 handling fee to top it off. How could i have paid it on time when they took the physical ticket?? I went through their process to appeal with no success....I will pay the original ticket even with their registration fine to be done with it but I am disputing the rest of the charges (late fees and handling charges) and I am absolutely done with Hertz.
