| - I just had one of the most disrespectful and disappointing experiences at Alta Vista. I made a same day appointment for a cut on my dog and, upon arrival, was promptly taken into a room. Dr. Blackwell was personable and so wonderful to my dog, and when she left I was told he would need an antibiotic. Ten minutes go by before the tech comes in to ask if it's alright to use two different medications to sub for the one antibiotic they were out of, and I said yes. Another 45 minutes go by and no one has entered the room. What was particularly infuriating about those 45 minutes was the insanely loud social hour that was going on with the employees. Doors slamming, people laughing and yelling the F word, office gossip...I could hear it all for 45 minutes. It was shockingly unprofessional. The two employees at the front desk in particular were SO loud that I overheard every word of their gossipy conversation.
Once I emerged from the room, I walked to the receptionist and told him that I had been sitting in the room for 45 minutes waiting and...he suddenly picks up two medicines on the counter and goes "Oh. No one told you to go?"
No. They didn't.
I quickly say, "You mean I was sitting in that room for no reason?" and he replied curtly with, "The techs usually do that. Your total is $75." It was beyond rude. And then I was handed two medicines that I had no idea what they were or how to administer them to my dog and never received any sort of apology whatsoever.
To say that the staff is unprofessional is an understatement. They sounded more like middle schoolers as they screamed, cussed, gossiped and slammed doors and clearly had no regard for the customers or their experience. I am disappointed because Dr. Blackwell was so wonderful, but I will not be returning to Alta Vista.
