  • I live ultra close to Jelly, which generally means I go there more often than is good for me. Lately I've been backing off because when I think about it for more than the 10 seconds it takes to walk in there on impulse, I come to the realization that maybe - just maybe - the trip may not be worth the calories. I've recently altered my running route, because the last stretch of it used to pass by Jelly's side window. In case you're wondering, a runner's high certainly increases one's desire to make impulse purchases of sugar and white carbs. Another Yelper mentioned that all the donuts were made of the same dough. I asked about this once, and apparently there is a difference between hand dipped/filled donuts and cake donuts. The cake donuts come in different doughs (carrot cake, chocolate, red velvet, I think), while the hand dipped/filled ones are all the standard white dough. Another-other Yelper commented that by the time she got home to Edmonton with her Jelly purchase, the donuts had become stale. I only live two blocks from Jelly, and even I find that if I don't jump in right away, they end up dry. Or at least that's the excuse I've been using. I can't tell if the folks at Jelly are ultra generous or ultra stingy. Two stories: One: For work we ordered $180 worth of donuts from Jelly, which they delivered without charge, *and* threw in an extra dozen. Because a dozen is $29, getting that free box was a really awesome bonus for us. And we are located in the North West, which is a haul for them coming from the Beltline. So thanks, Jelly! Two: So once I got a dozen donuts for my friend's birthday (which, as I mentioned is $29). I did this all kind of last minute, and it was soon after the flood, so I wasn't able to get candles from the (then-closed) Safeway. I asked Jelly if they had any and lo!, they did! There were 6 pink candles with a packet of matches in a little ziplock bag. I think it cost $3-5, but I can't be certain. Apparently it also costs extra to have a birthday message written on the donuts. I was kind of beginning to regret not going over to the DQ across the street. They'll write on your cake for free, and a 2-4 of candles is half the price. So there is the good and bad of Jelly for you!
