Went Saturday to get a new car. My husband and I always dread the car buying process. The best way to explain it is you walk out feeling dirty from all the tactics that are used. The negotiation process was as expected (you know the back and forth crap). Although it was better than our previous purchases at different dealers. We were able to get the car down to a price that we were okay with, as my husband had deals from his employer to help with this.
The financial department was what brought this experience to end on a negative note. We already had an auto loan through our bank for an interest rate of 2.99% and had the approval letter with the application numbers for them to use and finish the auto loan through our bank. They asked us our information to confirm the loan information. When they printed out the final paperwork the financial guy stated that there was a discrepancy with the bank loan as it came up for an interest rate of 3.19% and that it was to late at 5:30pm to call them and get it clarified and that we would have to contact the bank on Monday. The guy said that once talking to the bank the bank would be able to correct it.
Well, call the bank this morning and they explain to us that the financial guy did us dirty because he didn't use our application number (that we gave them on paper) for the loan and instead they sent in a request for another loan (which is the reason why it came up with a higher interest rate). Bank stated that the dealership does get a certain cut of it and that is why a dealership always wants you to apply for a loan through them. And the bank said that the financial guy was full of it when he said it was to late to call the bank at 5:30pm on a Saturday.
I plan to do anything and everything I can to get this corrected. I get it, it's only a 0.20% difference but it's the principle of it.
Definitely a lesson learn. Moral of the story is Shady as hell.
Update: Pretty impressed how fast they contacted me. Got a call 4/2 (right after reviews and emails were sent). They said that they were able to call the bank and get it fixed. They are going to send the official paperwork to my house. I'll provide an another update once everything is finalized.
Update: They sent the official paperwork with the correct interest rate and price and it's correct with the Bank.
Overall: The process was drawn out like usually but quicker then previous experiences. The salesman was respectful and decent (for a salesman). The financial department needs some improvement. Management was quick and fast.
