A&R was assigned to us by our home warranty company. Thank heavens our AC broke the day before our vacation (6/4/15) or we would have been stuck in our home for 19 days without AC during Extreme Heat Advisories. To put things as quickly as possible:
1. We were confirmed an appointment, 2x by the office staff. 1/2 hour after our "window" was past a foreman called and said the office staff had been confused on the date. After telling him it sounded like they just didn't want to pay a tech OT they finally sent someone out.
2. They ordered the part needed and when we didn't receive a call to complete the repair within 4 days I started calling A&R. After A WEEK of calling the A&R office and getting nowhere I called the warranty company. The warranty company finally tracked the part and found it had been lost in shipping. They re-shipped.
3. When we finally received the call to schedule replacement (which occurred on 6/23/15) we were told there would be a $150 fee to remove our old compressor. I checked around and was told by home inspectors and other AC repair techs that the $150 is just a way to make more $$ off of us, there is no law that they have to dispose of the compressor for us. It took another 4 days to get them to waive the $150 and agree to leave the compressor.
4. The day of our repair the tech got about 90% done with the repair and then came to collect the balance of the payment with, you guessed it, the $150 included. ANOTHER round of calls to A&R's office to finally get them to drop the baloney $150 charge.
In addition to all this, because we were on vacation, I spent about 15 hours on the phone trying to get our AC fixed. I won't go so far to say that A&R ruined my vacation, but it certainly wasn't relaxing. I could not be any less impressed with this company. Avoid at all costs.
