  • Come one, come all, and regale yourselves with food, drink, music, and board games at this modern day tavern. The tables are spread out enough so that each camp-style wooden table is its own island of intimacy, and whether or not you choose to get cozy with the other patrons is up to you. The drink menu is scrawled on a chalkboard behind the bar and has a solid collection of brews: IPAs, ales, stouts, even mead for ye olde inner Englishman! I was surprised by how early the kitchen closed (10pm on a Friday), so bringing your own snacks or filling up beforehand is recommended if you plan on staying a while. I was also somewhat disappointed that their menu was pretty limited and they didn't have French fries, but their potato chips are a satisfying substitute. My glass of Vanilla Blueberry Porter was everything I could have wanted in a porter with a smokey vanilla aftertaste. I was tempted to get a growler-full of it before deciding my productivity of late was already precariously low after starting Game of Thrones four years late. Of the meads I tasted, none of them evoked the fruit they were supposedly named for, but were good nonetheless. I hope you come with a group of friends who enjoys board games with their alcohol. (I SUPPOSE you could sit at the bar and I wouldn't judge you...) Jenga (or the knockoff version) is twice as fun with uneven surfaces and unsteady hands. Somehow Apples to Apples was still amusing after having graduated to Cards Against Humanity (which they sadly don't have) for the last several years. I'm not sure how Risk would go in this environment, and am sure a few new dictionary entries could be made with Scrabble. Or perhaps pinball is more up your alley. I didn't have coins to spare, but having played pinball in a bar before, it's just as fun as it was when you first played in elementary school. If that isn't entertainment enough, there's a stage where I presume local bands play to an appreciative and easygoing audience. I hope to be back as part of the audience with a taster flight soon. The bartenders and other staff members were equally chill and helpful, not snobby at all like some craft breweries I've been to. Watch them come and go and you can get a glimpse of the fermenters where the magic happens!
