I had a 1pm appt to have the rotors turned while on the vehicle. I show up about 15min early to check in and tell the guy behind the counter I have an appt to have the rotors turned while on the vehicle. He pulls out a piece of paper and says "oil change?", I replied NO I need the rotors turned while on the vehicle. He takes my name, keys etc without signing any paperwork and I have a seat in the waiting room.
About 1:30 a guy comes up and asks who I was and says "so you want them turned while still on the vehicle?" I explained YES and why. He says ok and walks away.
Finally I see my truck go into a bay so I walked outside to see how the machine works. I see my truck go on the lift, front tires come off and it's time for a smoke break. Actually all 3 employees in the Bay Area stop for a smoke break.
They finally go back to work and he seems to know what he's doing until I see the truck go back on the ground and he pulls it out without torquing the wheels!?!? Then he drives away from the building and I don't see him anymore. After 10 min I asked the front desk guy where his employee went with my truck?? He says "prob test driving it". I explained I never gave anyone permission to drive my vehicle on public roads and to call his employee to return with my vehicle immediately. Keep in mind I signed NO paperwork when I dropped it off giving anyone permission to drive my vehicle.
The employee returns a few minutes later with my truck. I expressed my displeasure to the front desk person and the mechanic stated he signed papers with pep boys that he must drive every vehicle he works on. After explaining pep boys can't grant him permission they don't have, he walked into the back again. Then the front desk guy asks me to sign the paperwork which states they are allowed to drive the vehicle. HA! No way am I giving them permission AFTER the act.
When I returned to my vehicle I see a shoe print on the door speaker and a mark on the door plate. I was so pisses I didn't even go in to address that. See pics
When I got home and checked my lugs (which Toyota calls for at 85ft lbs) I found them varying between 100-110ft lbs.
This place really needs to get their act together if they are going to work on people's vehicles. Hopefully people read this and avoid them like the plague!
