I was introduced to Soul Float as an alternative way to meditate. I have been interested in trying meditation for some time but not quite sure how to go about it.
The location is easy to find, situated in an appealing shopping district with ample parking. As soon as you walk into Soul Float you feel like you are in a spa. Extremely clean and bright, the front of the store sells a selection of locally made natural body and home care products.
The lady working was friendly, calm and just really lovely to be around. She gave us a thorough run through of what we can expect and how to prepare for our float. Asked us to pick the music we would like to listen to and the tea we wanted for when we were finished. She took us to our own individual rooms with our pods and showed us what to do. The individual pod rooms are spotlessly clean, have their own shower, complimentary bath products and continue with the same spa-like atmosphere.
The float was amazing, it takes approx 10 minutes to get comfortable as it is an unnatural feeling at first. The sensory deprevation aspect allows you to go into deep relaxation and meditation. The hour went by really quickly and after I felt my muscles were less sore, especially my neck and shoulders where I tend to always be tight. The float is quite dehydrating because of the amount of salt your body is exposed to, I cannot emphasize enough that you must drink a lot of water for a few days after.
Excellent experience, I will be back!
