After doing a considerable amount of research and talking with dealers around town, I decided to come by and try to work out a deal here when Jeff Ochs in the Internet department was able to offer me the most competitive pricing. Due to a bit of bad luck with the specific color I had my eye on being snapped up before I got there (they were literally writing up the sales contract on it for someone else), he was able to shave off a little more from the agreed price for a backup color that I could still enjoy.
There were of course a number of other fees and extras that "appear" on the sales contract once you've agreed upon a price, but this was no different than any other car buying experience I've had with any other dealer, so I can't dock them any points for that. They were flexible with negotiations on that and were willing to remove most of the items upon request, and worked out more reasonable pricing for the items that I wanted to keep.
Overall the process was quick and relatively painless. Even the finance department was a breeze, they didn't fight back when I said I wasn't interested in buying the extended warranty which was a pleasant surprise. It may have made a difference that I came armed with my own financing, but all in all the entire process was low pressure, quick and painless.
Love my new car by the way! I think I'll enjoy the color after all.
