| - Nice, but inefficient staff is quick to give excuses. I recently brought in my computer that had crashed and would not restart. Throughout the process I needed to play middle man for Apple and Simply Mac--it would have been much simpler if I had just brought the computer to an apple store. The closest apple store is near Chicago, so I was willing to put up with a little inconvenience.
The computer needed to be mail out for repair, and was done with only a little hassle. A couple days later I called Simply Mac to ask how long they thought the repair would take and the phone line was inaccessible. So I called apple, Apple told me it looked like the computer had not been shipped because they saw no repair number for the computer. Since I had never been given one, Apple also tried to call Simply Mac using a service number. Apple was also unable to get through due to a full voicemail box. I, soon after, drove over to the store to find four customer service reps hanging out with no customers present. They were able to give me a repair number and the computer did make it to the Apple repair center the day before--from what they could see on their end.
The next day I decided call apple in the evening around 7pm to double check that they had received it and I was informed it was already back at the Simple Mac store. In fact, it had arrived at 9:30am. I drove out to Simply Mac and the computer was there. I asked why they had not called me and they told me they had been short staffed. Maybe I am a little too critical but it seemed like whenever I visited the store there weren't many customers present. I was informed that there are only 3 people who are qualified to check in apple serviced computers and that they were all gone for the past few days. The manager also explained that the reason the phones didn't work in the past was because they listened to the voicemail, but didn't delete them. They were still able to check out my computer, which took a little less than 10 minutes. Computer is working fine. I was covered by apple care so price was not an issue.
This place is fine as long, as long as timeliness and ease of transaction are not important to you. The staff is very friendly, and I am satisfied with the state of my computer (although it was actually repaired by apple).
