| - Camelback Collision are nothing but crooks. I had a comprehensive loss. Someone tried to steal my car and broke the window and damaged the interior. My insurance company had me take it to Camelback Collision for an estimate.
The total insurance estimate was over $1000, including $300 for replacing the broken glass along with replacing two cosmetically damaged interior pieces, One interior part alone cost $700. I had a $1000 deductible. The adjuster asked if I intended to have the work done at Camelback Collision. I had already seen some bad reviews, so I said no.
But the next day, I went back to Camelback Collision and said since I was paying for the majority of the cost out of pocket, I only wanted them to fix the glass, just so I could start driving the car again. The glass portion of the insurance company estimate was around $300 parts and labor.
Camelback Collision said they can't use the estimate I presented, since they aren't allowed to deviate from it. And if I just wanted the glass taken care of, they had to do a totally new estimate. It didn't make sense to me, but I agreed to return the next day for a new glass only estimate.
Their new estimate was just under $700 just to fix the glass. The same glass replacement the insurance company itemization said would cost about $300 parts and labor. And to top it off, they said the aftermarket glass they used in the $700 estimate was not available from their supplier. So if I wanted it fixed immediately, they would need to use oem glass which would bring the total bill up to near $1000.
I called my insurance to complain. They put me in touch with Safelite auto glass. I got my window replaced, parts and labor for under $200 ! The same job the crooks at Camelback collision said would be $700, and cost even more if I wanted it fixed asap with oem glass.
Bottom line, when you are paying out of pocket, they will attempt to screw you by padding the charges. Their labor estimate for the glass was 4x higher than the insurance company's estimate performed on their site. I think Camelback collision is a dishonest company. I would never use them for anything. Avoid this place if you don't want to get taken for a ride.
