| - This evening I walked through their soft opening of the Plaza, and the updated casino area looked more modern with more neon lights, new carpeting, and new slots machines throughout the floors.
PlayLV gaming did a good job of hiring pleasant dealers, but they need to upgrade the cocktail girls. I wasn't too happy with them, but there still learning the curve so I'm letting them off the hook on this visit.
As far as table games, the usual blackjack, craps, liberal 21, roulette, and I'm not sure on Pai Gow, but it could be there.
The sportsbook didn't change much, but Lucky sportsbook usually have pretty good odds.
The catch to this casino will be it restaurants which are opened. One of them is Hash House a GoGo, and the other is a Las Vegas Hawaiian favorite, Island Sushi and deli; both of these restaurants have a very good following with the local crowd in Las Vegas, and if they serve the same amount of food as the other locations....this casino doesn't need a buffet, but extra take out boxes. Hash house is known for huge size plates, and and Island Sushi is known for that too. I have a feeling the guest over at California Hotel will make their way to this Hotel for late night bentos. There is a Subway in operation next the lobby, but that's just subway.
For downtown, the Casino area isn't up to the level of the Golden Nugget, but I have a feeling the Plaza's hotel room may be the best price for the buck! The Plaza purchased room furniture from Fountainblu. I only seen the picture of the rooms, so I can't really tell you if it's a fact on that statement, but from what I'm hearing about rack price for each room, that's catch for the plaza.
I only hope the owners and management can promote this hotel, and start at the grassroot levels of making into something special; that way we can be proud say this hotel is the picture of downtown Las Vegas.
