  • The worst, most embarrassing and humiliating experience from the VIP table service coordinator named Brian. We had a reservation for a VIP skybox on Halloween. When we arrived to check in, Brian informed us that he did not have a skybox for us stating that the reservation had been cancelled. I showed him my cellphone, which had the Tao VIP reservation confirmation which had been made for us by Robert, Tao's VIP host. Brian got angry, rolled his eyes and walked my party to the back of a long line and told us to wait here. After about an hour, a lady came and told us our table was ready. I asked if the table was the skybox and I was told that , "it was the best table in the house". I repeated my question because it was obvious that we were getting the runaround. Again, no answer to my question. It was interesting because one would think that since Tao had messed up my reservation, they would be courteous and apologetic but instead they were snotty, rude, arrogant and condescending. They proceeded to walk us to our location which turned out to be in the middle of a throng of dancing people. The location would sit one or two people at most. It was not the skybox we had reserved nor the location that we were told we would be located. We had reserved the balcony skybox at the end, away from the crowds. I requested to see a manager and the cocktail waitress said that she wouldn't help us and walked away. I walked up to another Tao employee and asked to see a manager. Someone returned a few minutes later and I explained the issue and he told me that there were no skyboxes available. I told him that this was not my reservation and asked him to return my license to me and that we were leaving. He then said that they had a skybox available but that it would cost me $15,000. I said that was interesting since my reservation was for $2,000. I then showed him my cellphone confirmation reflecting both the price and location. I couldn't believe the bait and switch that this nightclub was trying to pull. And now suddenly my skybox was available but for a $13,000 increase. These people were unbelievable. I was there with my daughter and several work colleagues. This was embarrassing. At this point, one would think this debacle couldn't get any worse but it does. While waiting for Tao to return my drivers license so we could leave, an employee informs me that my party would need to move because we were no longer VIP's and needed to vacate the area. So we moved out of the area whereby another Tao employee tapped me on the shoulder and told me we were blocking the cocktail waitress. Obviously they had blacklisted us and told Tao staff to harass us. Wow, not only no apology for messing up our reservation but a concerted effort to embarrass and humiliate us. Bait and switch, harassment, rudeness, arrogance and incompetence. It must be nice to have so much business that you feel inclined to treat your customers in such a reprehensible manner.
