  • I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I used to come to Scottsdale for work and vacation and I make it a point to come to the Wildfish Seafood Grille whenever I'm in town. I was in town for work and decided to go there for happy hour so I could get their jumbo crab cake (which I love) and the crab fried rice. I ordered a half portion of crab fried rice since I can only eat half and it was delicious as usual. The problem happened when Drew, my food server, brought my bill and the half portion of crab fried rice was $10. I thought I remembered paying $7 at both the Scottsdale and Newport Beach restaurants, so I got the menu and saw that the price for a full portion was $14. When I asked Drew why a half portion of rice was $10 versus $7, he suggested I speak with the manager. Joe came to my table and when I told him about my concern about the price of the rice, he told me that a half portion is really more than half and it is priced accordingly. He went into a long explanation about why the rice was priced the way it was and told me the price of the half order of rice was on the menu, but when I showed him only the $14 price listed, he finally said he could see why I expected the rice to be half the price of the full portion. He ended up taking the entire price of the fried rice off of my bill after we had discussed the matter for 5 minutes. Though I enjoyed my crab cake and crab fried rice, having a 5 minute conversation with Joe over a $3 difference in price was too long in my opinion. I usually have good customer service when I go to Wildfish, but I was very disappointed in how Joe handled this situation.
