  • If you're looking for a fun different date idea, or something to do with your friends/family that is not the typical day out, then buy your tickets to paint nite!! I had seen a gallery in Arizona that let you bring your own wine and paint, and I thought it was such a fun idea. So when I heard they have something similar in Toronto, AND saw the tickets on Buytopia, I jumped at the chance right away. I wanted to get my mom out the house and take her somewhere we can both enjoy. I told her about paint nite and she was so very hesitant. She kept saying "I've never even picked up a paint brush in my life". So it took a bit of convincing before she said yes. And was she glad she did :) We had such a fantastic time. Do NOT be afraid to try this even if all you draw are stick figures. They provide you with all the material you need, and start from the basics and slowly walk you through the painting. They don't rush you at all. The whole event was 3 hours long and our painting wasn't even that complicated. The instructor, Liesl Scheppat, was pretty good at explaining every step, and there was an assistant who walked around to answer any questions or bring you more paint if needed. By the end there were so many different types of paintings. Some were just horrible and we all had a little giggle about it. Some were so amazing, that I wanted to purchase it lol You will find all levels of talent there, so however bad or good you are you won't feel alone. Some people had a hard time seeing the painting that was being done by the artist, so I would recommend going early to get a good seat. And another tiny problem was that when you ordered drinks or food there wasn't really any space for it. We had to put our drinks and appetizers behind our canvas. I almost took a sip of the water I was using for the paint instead of my wine since everything was so crammed together. But we had a good laugh about it since everything else was so fantastice....and the wine sipping didn't hurt either heeheeehee About the bar itself: The bar we went to was called The Crest. Very clean, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. We got there early so we took a walk on St. Clair and visited some of the little shops around. Go Go Go...you won't regret it :)
