If it was possible to give a zero rating to a business on Yelp, I would give this Nouvelle Maria place a zero.
So just for the record, the only reason I'm giving this place one star is because the system won't let me give a zero.
When I first called to book, the woman who answered the phone (who sounded older with a heavy Eastern European accent) did not sound friendly at all. I would say it was bordering on curt.
To her credit though, when I arrived for my appointment, and checked in at the desk, she was more welcoming and friendlier than on the phone.
I was ushered into the changing room and given a sorry-looking bathrobe and cheap flip-flops. The changing room reminded me more of a high school changing room than that of a world-class hotel spa. I was told to change into the bathrobe and then wait in the waiting area. Which I did. The decor of the waiting area is some combination of really outdated and outright awful. And the music... outdated elevator music that was too loud.
It's like night and day when you walk by the smartly uniformed bell clerk and into the grand reception area of the regal-sounding Omni King Edward Hotel with the vaulted ceilings... and then you walk up to the outdated, drab, decor-challenged Nouvelle Maria Spa.
