First time at the yard! I really enjoyed the large area around Chase Field with all the restaurants and bars. They were packed - quite a different story when we entered the stadium.
We had gotten seats from StubHub a few months before and I was kicking myself due to the price I paid. The stadium was mostly empty and we could've sat pretty much anyplace we wanted! As it was we changed our seats a couple of times to avoid some loud-talkers and to get a better vantage point.
To my disappointment, quite a few of the food stands were closed - I guess due to the low attendance that night. I also couldn't find any better beer options than Michelob Light and Bud Light....however, I did have one of the best bratwursts I have ever eaten at a ballpark and it was actually served piping hot. If they only had sauerkraut besides the onions and relish I would've been in heaven.
The stadium itself is gorgeous, giant screens, innovative signage and yes, the infamous pool. Kind of weird to be on center stage in the outfield with a pool, but hey, it gets hot there! I wasn't so keen on the roof being closed, especially since it wasn't even that warm that evening. Kind of felt like I was in Oakland Coliseum or MSG.
Best part - the Giants beat the D'Backs - and that's what we came to see.
