| - My wife and I would rate this place differently. She'd give it 5 stars, I'm sure.
On our last visit, the service was fair. Not particularly friendly, and no visits back to our table accept to drop off the check. The server didn't smile much or attempt to engage our kids.
I found the ice cream simply good. The cookies and cream and chocolate that I had were OK. The hot fudge is better than average but the peanut butter sauce, while freshly made, was not as tasty as what you might find at Friendly's (which I'm sure is loaded with artificial ingredients).
My wife loves the mint chocolate chip and peppermint stick. My daughter's golden vanilla was better than your average vanilla. The Coke I ordered was terrible: a bad after taste of birch beer, Dr. Pepper, or something.
We were initially attracted to Malley's by the ads boasting an indoor carousel. Note that this is not a merry-go-round. There are 5 tables or so on a rotating platform which as the basic shell of a real carousel. The rotation is slow. We usually get thru 1 1/2 rotations per visit.
The prices are reasonable for the ice cream, but some of the gift chocolates can cost you plenty. I've found their chocolates, pretzels, etc. to be pretty good, but not decadent.
I'll go out on a limb. This may be one of those places that many people rave about and are fond of, but I bet a blind taste test would show that the food is only average. It's a cute place, but it's not terrific.
