Avoid Jiffy Lube at all costs! Took my car in for service the day before a 1,000 mile road trip. The gentleman who helped me was very pleasant to deal with.
Nearly 200 miles into our trip the next morning we discovered that the technicians at Jiffy Lube had drained our oil, replaced the filter, but had forgotten the CRUCIAL step of replacing the oil?!?!? Thankfully an issue with the fan had caused noise in the engine, otherwise we wouldn't have stopped to check everything, including the oil. My husband proceeded to add 5 quarts of oil then we found a local mechanic. I called Jiffy Lube immediately and was basically talked down to and told that it was impossible for us to have traveled as far as we had with no oil. Obviously this manager needs a better education in his trade as we had done just that. We have had 2 reputable mechanics with numerous years of experience confirm that it's not unusual for a car to run with minimal oil. Not to mention, the mechanic we were lucky enough to find confirmed that we did not have a leak or evidence of burning oil. Thus the only explanation is that the oil wasn't replaced.
My husband contacted Jiffy Lube on our return. He was given same song and dance from manager at this location. We were then referred to their 800 customer service. The representative was very understanding while never admitting fault. They did refund the initial oil change fee as well as the cost of oil we purchased on the road, not the additional costs we incurred from mechanic draining oil and starting fresh to insure no engine damage. Fortunately for them, we discovered the problem early in our trip or we would be discussing replacing an engine.
If you believe your car is an investment, get your oil changed anywhere but Jiffy Lube.
