  • Obviously I'm a fan of The Palm, see my previous reviews from my local location in Bal Harbor, but here in Vegas in the Forum Shops tonight 8 of us tackled this place for a good friend of mines retirement party and birthday. It also considers with our annual Fall Golf trip to Vegas so here we are. Meeting in the bar for a few drinks, the very friendly Jax takes care of the boys and our table on the Patio in the forum ships is ready for what we hope is great food and people watching. JR is serving us tonight and after ordering a very overpriced bottle of wine we are off and running. Cesar Salads, Traditional Blue Cheese Wedges with beefsteak Tomatoes, and a shrimp cocktail and a shrimp Bruno started off the food orgy. The wedges were as expected & the Wet & Dry blue Cheese is the same as their Miami location. Everyone was extremely pleased with their salads which were cold fresh and very tasty. On to the Entrees. Excellent for the most part with the NY STRIP & The Rib Eye being the best of the bunch here. A little disappointing Prime Rib is only available on Friday & Saturday night. Their price Fix option of $49.00 with Salad, choice of a particular entrée and dessert looks great but I have to believe the following. The Filet Mignon is not the same as the menu item. All 3 were funny looking and gray. Taste was ok but really a weak presentation. Small 6 ounce Lobster tail was NOT 6 ounces and it was Ok but not great. The 1/2 lobsters were much better with plenty of meat and great claws which were expertly cracked and deshelled tableside. Sides of Half & Half "Cottage fries and string onions were on the money as well as the sautéed wild mushrooms & Creamed spinach. Lyonnais potatoes were good but Red Onions instead of traditional white did not do them justice. A nice giant piece of chocolate cake for the birthday boy was presented along with homemade whipped cream. Couple of Espressos & Cappuccinos was consumed as well. Not a perfect night as the Filets & Lobster tails in the price fixe was weak but rest of the food was Top Shelf and service was impeccable as JR did a really great job... 4 Stars tonight!
