| - Wow... I was so excited to go here, based on the James Beard recognition and the raves on DDD (big fan of the show). Additionally, I am from the same area in California as the chef. The ambiance was authentic, which I expected. We started with the tableside guacamole, which featured pomegranate. It was tasty, but nothing that couldn't be made at home. I then had the cochinita pibil tacos, one of the featured dishes. It was so over salted it was inedible.
During this, our waiter had started off friendly but then became quite rude with my girlfriend. When he saw that I was not eating my tacos, he became actually snotty. He took them off the bill, but continued to act like we were at fault for questioning the food. When we left, he followed us outside and tried to act like he was trying to understand our frustration, but merely deflected and talked about how he had 25 years experience in restaurants. He was interrupting my girlfriend when she spoke and acting very condescending.
There was obviously a time when this was a great restaurant, but not this time. I will never go back.
