The Saguaro del Norte recreation site is near Stewart Mountain Dam and has a restaurant, picnic tables, restrooms, boat ramps and a marina with boat rentals. This reservoir on the Salt River offers plenty to do like taking a day cruise aboard the Desert Belle for a sightseeing cruise.
I planned a wonderful day at the lake for my husbands Bday. I actually purchased tickets in advance on line. The prices are a great deal for the amount of time on the water and all the education and beautiful things you'll see. Desert Belle tickets are $15-$27 (free for age 4 and younger). They had different times throughout the day to pick and a evening cruise that looks inviting with a band that plays in the dinette area.
Some of the views you will experience are the landmark Mazatzal Mountains of Four Parks which is considered a prominent part of Arizona with such history & can be seen from a far distance in all directions. Also, the cruise will take you through many portions of the enormous lake & you may even see some big horn sheep. We were able to spot three! One memorable and historical piece we experienced was the Saguaro Cactus.
Captain Mike and his crew were great. The only down side was the continuous campaigning for donations and purchasing CD's at the end of the cruise. I don't mind donating to great causes. However, for the additional cost on board and all business draw that surrounds the attraction I don't feel they should press the passengers more than one time.
