| - Let me just start by saying that my kiddos (2&5) really loved the LVNHM. Which is why I didn't give it one star. Upon walking in, you're hit by a musty, old smell--very strong. Even my children were complaining. There are a lot of really cool exhibits--the eyeless fish, the creepy bugs, the submarine. My kids didn't want to leave. But, with the exception of a few exhibits (Egyptian, for one), it felt like a time warp. It said they are having their 25th anniversary and, really, it feels even older than that. It's hard to express just how much it feels like NOTHING has been updated in decades, it's a little bizarre. I've lived in Las Vegas a long time and I've seen our city come a long way with their family-friendly activities. The Discovery children's museum is amazing. This museum is an example of a place that I really believe could be incredibly popular if someone would invest in a renovation.
PS. We saw the biggest black widow I'd ever seen, just hanging out about 5 feet from where my kids were playing by the submarine. I'd been trying to put on a happy face because my kids were loving it but that was about all I could take. It just felt so old and dirty!
