| - The Boulders Resort & Spa has some of the most beautiful scenery/landscaping and ambiance that a resort can have. Checking in at the gate before we enter the spa was a smooth process. Check in at resort registration went smoothly as well. No complaints there.
"Shuttle" service was great. The shuttle staff were super friendly. You have to call or text for service as the only way you can get around the resort is to walk or get a ride in their golf carts. Their service was always fast and prompt when we needed a ride to the room, restaurant or pool.
We stayed in a Casita w/ a view. The room was awesome. Loved the french style doors that opened up to the patio and the hardwood shutters that closed it off. The room had tile throughout, which was nice. Complimentary slippers and bathrobe are provided. Mini bar in the room, but for some reason ours was locked, but we didn't worry about that, since we weren't going to utilize it anyway. The bathroom was extremely spacious and a beautiful set up. One of the nicest resort bathrooms that I have seen.
We visited the pool that overlooked the beautiful boulders next to the Discovery Lounge. You can order food and drinks with the waitstaff. When we go to the pool it was crowded. All the lounge chairs/tables were taken and there was only one girl taking orders and delivering food. We managed to finally get lounge chairs after about 20 min. We placed our order, which seemed to take another 20 min to get her attention. The food was delicious. No real big complaints aside from my Stella Artois coming out room temperature due to it being restocked.
Before heading out to the Spotted Donkey, we stopped at the Discovery Lounge as we had called to see if there was live entertainment prior to visiting the resort. We were told there was. After coming back to the room to get ready we called down to the Discovery Lounge to see what time the entertainment began and ended. When we called the person who answered said she did not know as she had not seen the entertainment around. After getting ready we go to the lounge to see what is going on and it is dead silent in there. No entertainment at all. We asked the bartender where the entertainment was and she responded with, I didn't even notice the entertainment wasn't here. Me and my wife looked at each other had a drink and left to the Spotted Donkey.
We ate at the Spotted Donkey, which was totally off their food & customer service game. Horrible experience which meant we had food comp'd and a discount on our overall dinner by the manager.
We went back to the same pool the following day. We ordered food at 10:55am and barely got our chips/salsa at 11:55am. 1 whole hour later. Our chicken caprese sandwich was still MIA. Around 12:10pm, they said it was on the way, mind you, we ordered this at 10:55am. We decided to cancel it and just paid our tab and actually left the resort entirely.
The resort is stunningly beautiful, but the customer service in certain aspects is a fail. If one is going to pay for an upscale stay, the customer service should on point and make the stay more inviting. Needless to say, we are not really confident that we would come back based on the customer service issues alone.
