| - I've been consistently training for 10 years now, and this gym is by far one of the worst gyms I've ever been to. I've been coming here for about a month now, and wish I hadn't cancelled my LA Fitness membership. I used to train at the EOS in Gilbert and I still train at the EOS in Avondale, so I was expecting a similar level of quality but boy was I wrong...
First off, the plates are terrible. Just try putting a plate onto any of the barbells. I'm sorry, but there shouldn't be any resistance putting weights on/off. The free weight area is so small, you'll have people practically lifting weights over your head if you're using one of the free weight benches. I come around 4-6pm and when I use the cardio equipment in the theatre room, the sun is completely beaming in. The EOS locations in Gilbert and Avondale are pitch black in these rooms. As for the equipment, the few pieces that they do have seem to be randomly scattered. This is just more of a personal pet peeve of mine, but doesn't it make sense to have all of the chest equipment with the other chest equipment? I personally feel that the free weights and equipment could really use some TLC.
I can't comment on the classes or the quality of trainers they have. I did have one interaction with a trainer, and he came off as rude, but he may be good trainer. The only pros I think this gym has going for it is it's location and the fact that they validate parking.
Trust me, I wouldn't be coming here if I didn't have to but it is close to my work now. I've already looked into signing back up at LA Fitness at Camelback and 7th. If you don't believe my review, check out the Gilbert or Avondale locations. You'll see a dramatic difference in quality.
