| - I really like Peridot sweets. The cupcakes are delicious and I come on the regular to surprise coworkers with delicious sweets. Even when I was breastfeeding, I was advised my lactation consultant they would make lactation cookies. I would call ahead and order them and man, I think I gained like 15 lbs from those damn cookies.
So, when it came to ordering a large cake for 60 people for my son's 1st birthday or course I chose Peridot Sweets. Everyone said, go to Freeds! Or go here or there. And I stuck by Peridot sweets. I came in during a lunch break to put my order in and went over all the details. I had originally gotten a 12 inch as there were less people originally going to be attending the party. I had ordered a funfetti cake with a crème center. Perfect for a little boys birthday with a bunch of little kids. Who doesn't love funfetti. We went over the decorations and everything seemed great. Picked my cake up on the day of the event and it looked beautiful. I had called earlier in the week to actually make it a 14 inch cause more mouths to feed unexpectedly.
So, party is on. We sing happy birthday and cut into that beautiful cake. UMM.. Why is my funfetti cake brown and why is it super gooey. Like crumbling down. Oh well, lets put some vanilla ice cream on that sucker and hope people don't notice. Well they did notice as I was telling everyone how excited I was for this funfetti cake. Someone asked me if I ordered a Mexican Cake.. hmmm.. I dunno.
Anyways. I ended up taking a photo of the inside of the cake and going into the location the following Monday. I talked to a lady that was trying to tell me she took my order that she understood that I wanted sprinkles in the crème. Ok so what the hell was the brown cake? I had never talked to this lady in my life. So, the manager/owner overheard us and stepped in. She advised when she saw the order she thought it was weird. I have no idea if she thought it was weird, why she didn't call me and just made the cake. But, you know she handled it professionally and apologized to me. I really was not expecting much except to find out what went on and to advise them of how unhappy I was. She ended up refunding me for the cost of the cake-not the decoration, but I was happy with this.
I will definitely come back to get more cupcakes, but would not order a special made cake from them unless I knew it was very clear on exactly what I wanted. I guess it was a case of bad communication..
