My family member went in for a failing pacemaker on Saturday. Changing it for a new one is considered outpatient so they put her in an observation room. The doctors don't do the surgery over the weekend so they were told it would be done by a specific doctor after his other cases on Monday around 2:30pm. No eating or drinking before the surgery so she was starving and dehydrated for 16 hours. As it got closer to the time we didn't get any info from doctors or nurses. 2:30 came and went. We complained many times that we had no communication. Finally a head nurse said that it would be another doctor doing the operation but she didn't know where he was. We waited and demanded answers. Finally found out that the doctor that was supposed to do it in the first place went home and the other doctor was too busy. Terrible doctor and patient communication. Had surgery the next morning. In the hospital 3 days for a twenty min outpatient procedure.
