| - Hipster Lawrenceville strikes again! I actually consider this place a 3.5, but yet again yelp has not made half stars an option (hint hint). I ordered the burger with cheese, an egg and bacon. Some places call it the farmers burger or the good morning burger, but no matter what you call it, this is all time favorite burger combo of mine and it's always interesting to see what different places do with it. Kind of a Pepsi/Coke cola challenge if you will. It was good, but I could have been sitting in Dive or Yard and had the same experience. They say the bacon is wild boar or something, but it just tasted like bacon.
The BF ordered the smoke stack sandwich and it was very good. It's a ribeye sandwich with arugula and horseradish, and I HATE horseradish, but I would totally order this sandwich next time. The arugula and horseradish gave it an interesting bite.
I got the regular fries with mine, but he upgraded to the pot roast fries. Now, anyone who has read any of my reviews know I am a French fry elitist. And hand cut are always, always the best. These were hand cut but I found them to be a bit weird. They were kind of thick and dry. The BF's were better because of the pot roast, but because of my intense French fry love, they were docked 3/10s of a point or so. (a nod to the Olympics!)
Our waiter seemed newish and it was so cute to see how hard he was trying. And for the record, he was great. The prices were on par with similar establishments as well. A word of advice though, if you go try to get a table in the front window. The people watching is awesome; it is Lawrenceville after all.
