  • Make no mistake, VCA Castle Shannon is a business first and an animal hospital second. They will try to sell you every procedure and medicine they can even after explicitly telling them you're not interested. Just today I took my dog in for the shots she needs for boarding at the Dog Stop (kennel) and I explicitly told the lady who checked us in, the medical assistant, and the doctor that we were just there for her shots today and not an examination. Even after all that the doctor still gave her a quick examination and they charged me the additional $57 exam fee on top of the $30+ per vaccination fees. I've been taking my pets there for a few years out of convenience, but I simply cannot tolerate their shady business methodologies any longer. If you enjoy long waits and door-to-door salesmen-type tactics then this is the place for you.
